and 125 miles are on trail

The transformation of the landscape throughout the trip is striking. We will leave a region where we find a large population and asphalted roads, to go to a wild, deserted region of difficult access, where you are better off being well prepared and have everything with you. In the first part of the trip, we will border Lake Poopo, after which, we will have lunch in Challapata. In the afternoon the journey will become difficult: rugged dirt tracks, stones, heavy and fesh fesh type sand. We will go through ghost towns. This is a long and tiring, yet magnificent stretch (more or less 7 hrs.) . Accommodations in Uyuni, a Far West type of town and point of encounter for all tourists visiting the southern part of the country, for whom, one of the main interests is its location on the border of the salt desert, The Salar that bears its name and one of the main interests of this journey.

We will turn to the west toward the island of Inkawasi, after a stop in a hotel made entirely of salt, including its furniture. Picnic on the island before taking to the north toward the village of Jirira, at the foot of the Tunupa vulcano. It will be the perfect opportunity to test high speed at an altitude of over 13,000 ft. Accommodation on location.

A ride around Jirira, visiting the nearby villages will allow us to admire a colony of pink flamingos or some mummies found in a cave. Then, we will cross part of the Salar to reach the Island of the Fish whose highest point offers an amazing 360º view of the Salar. Picnic on the island, ride, siesta and return to Jirira after watching a memorable sunset. This programme is just a suggestion. Great liberty will be given to the participants for other possible activities (climbing the Tunupa vulcano, for example).

and 150 miles of trail

We will leave Jirira to the north toward Salinas de Garci-Mendoza cutting through the Salar at times. From Salinas we will turn east-north-east toward Santiago de Huari. As we go through, we will be able to admire an amazing meteorite crater as well as many lamas, alpacas and vicunas. This part of the journey will be composed of different types of tracks (more or less rugged dirt tracks, sand, crossing of river beds, etc.). From Santiago de Huari to La Paz, the remaining asphalted 190 miles will seem very pleasant indeed, before ending the journey around a friendly glass of wine.
